Performance Photography

2016

A series of ten photographs.

A performance photography series exploring the experience of being in spaces of beautiful nowhere, yet remaining trapped in a box that has been created either by society or ourselves. Capturing the comfortable discomfort that one chooses to sit in, out of fear or lack of privilege and access to stepping out of a conditionnement, whether a mind created limitation, or societal constructed ideologies. A body trapped in a box conversing with natural and urban landscapes of emptiness. The performers’ affect and posture in juxtaposition to these landscapes tells the story of one's agency, why they may or may not stay.

This series was awarded the Laurette for International Women’s Photographers Award in 2017.
