Performance Photography

2016

A series of ten photographs.

This performance photography series explores the experience of being in spaces of beautiful nowhere, yet remaining trapped in a box that has been created by either society or ourselves. Capturing the comfortable discomfort that one chooses to sit with out of fear or lack of privilege and access to stepping out of a conditionnement, whether a mind created limitation, or societal constructed ideologies. In this performance, the artist chooses to sit with her discomfort, and face it by physically engaging with it. Embodying the comfortably uncomfortable experience of sitting in a restricted space, which brings awareness of the vast open spaces outside of the limitations of the self. In each image, a different conversation takes place between the landscape and the performance.
