Crown of your head

Performance Photography, Sculpture

Three sculptures depicting the headscarf along with a series of photographs documenting the performative aspect of wearing the sculptural headpieces.

Headpiece sculptures material: Wire, Kozo Fiber Pulp

The statement often used to inspire women in some parts of the middle east to wear the headscarf is "your hair is the crown of your head." This crown is covered because of its cultural value. Similar to the queen bee, who hides her crown and stays inside the hive. The headscarf, like the hive, becomes a home for women's hair. An invisibly visible home.
